Couples Somatic Bodywork & Relational Embodiment

Supporting Attachment Repair, Boundaries, and Conscious Intimacy

Your body holds relational stories that words alone cannot always reach — particularly in intimate partnership, where attachment, safety, desire, and boundaries are deeply intertwined.

Couples somatic bodywork within Leigh’s couples coaching intensives is designed to support partners to gently release stored tension, develop embodied self-awareness, and restore nervous system balance within the relationship itself. This work goes beyond talk-based approaches by engaging the body as an ally in understanding relational patterns, strengthening emotional safety, and cultivating conscious, attuned connection between partners.

These sessions are not offered to individuals. They are provided exclusively for couples, as part of Leigh’s couples coaching and intensive programs, and are integrated within an IMAGO-informed, attachment-aware, and quantum relational framework.

Rather than focusing on fixing either partner, the relationship is treated as the central field of learning, repair, and growth.

Integrated Somatic, Relational & Embodiment-Based Education

Sessions may integrate a range of body-based practices and somatic education, supporting couples to learn how to listen to their own bodies and respond respectfully to each other’s signals in moments of connection, intimacy, and stress.

This work supports couples to:

  • recognise how the body communicates needs, limits, and readiness

  • develop awareness of physical and emotional boundaries

  • practice slowing down and checking in with bodily responses

  • distinguish between obligation, tolerance, and genuine choice

  • build trust through clear, respectful boundary communication

Modalities may include:

  • IRM – Inherited Release Method

  • De-Armouring & Psychosomatic Release Bodywork

  • Kundalini Activation (held within a grounded, trauma-aware context)

  • Somatic Breathwork

  • Scar Tissue Remediation

  • Mindfulness & Embodied Meditation

  • HeartMath Biofeedback

Within the couples container, this work may support:

  • increased nervous system regulation during intimacy and conflict

  • awareness of attachment-based responses held in the body

  • clearer communication around comfort, consent, and pacing

  • repair of ruptures where boundaries have been unclear or crossed

  • deeper presence, responsiveness, and mutual respect

Boundaries, Body Awareness & Relational Safety

A central focus of this work is supporting couples to develop embodied boundary awareness — learning how to notice what the body needs in any given moment and how to honour those needs within relationship.

Rather than relying on assumptions, expectations, or verbal agreements alone, partners are supported to:

  • tune into sensations of openness, tension, activation, or withdrawal

  • recognise early signals of overwhelm or disconnection

  • practise expressing boundaries in ways that maintain connection rather than create distance

  • respond to a partner’s boundaries without taking them personally or defensively

This approach helps couples move away from patterns of pushing, collapsing, pleasing, or shutting down, and towards relationships grounded in choice, clarity, and mutual care.

IRM Release Bodywork in a Relational Context

IRM Release Bodywork is a somatic and energetic wellbeing modality informed by transpersonal and trauma-aware principles, integrating aspects of Kundalini activation and nervous system tension release.

Within couples work, IRM is used to explore how emotional patterns, beliefs, and early attachment imprints may be held in the body and activated through intimate partnership.

Sessions may begin with applied kinesiology techniques to gently identify areas of holding or activation. Awareness is then brought to energetic layers, centres, meridians, and acupressure points to support the unwinding of stored relational stress held in both the front and back of the body.

The intention is not to process trauma in isolation, but to:

  • increase embodied self-awareness

  • support nervous system settling and regulation

  • enhance relational safety and responsiveness

  • invite new patterns of presence, pacing, and connection between partners

All somatic work is held within the broader couples coaching container and aligned with the couple’s shared relational intentions.

Important Note

These sessions are:

  • Available for couples only

  • Not offered as individual therapy

  • Provided exclusively within Leigh’s couples coaching and intensive programs
